We build bridges between art and justice work in Chicago.

You’ll find us hosting innovative concerts, collaborating with local artists and activists, marching at rallies, singing in local parks, and harnessing the power of the arts to inspire our communities to just action. We are two programs with one mission: to inspire action toward justice and nurture a more connected Chicago.

Chicago Artists for Action is a community of artists and advocates creating innovative performance art and building collaborative partnerships to inspire action toward justice and nurture a more connected Chicago. Chicago Artists for Action was born at the intersection of singing and action for justice. Officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2019, our organization grew out of the joining of two programs, common pulse vocal ensemble and Justice Choir Chicago. Read more about our programs here.

Our organization offers year-round singing and learning opportunities to Chicago-area residents. We provide a home to a wide range of artists, from amateurs to professionals, and we explore a broad swath of the singing canon, from rote folk and resistance movement music to choral, folk, pop, and original compositions. We provide learning, singing, and movement-building programming with a particular focus on promoting anti-racism and amplifying artists of color. We design events that welcome our neighbors into vulnerable, educational, and inspirational conversations through our art. We march at rallies, sing in local parks, host genre-defying concerts, offer free online community learning events, and harness the power of the arts to inspire our communities to action toward justice.
