Together we explore what it means to nurture artistic action, creativity, and collaborations with those seeking justice in and for our city and our planet.

our programs

CAfA was born at the intersection of singing and movement building. Through our artistic process, we invite Chicagoans to take action for the wellbeing of our community. We collaborate with local artists, activists, and organizations that are leading us toward a more equitable future.

Since its inception, CAfA has created a home for a wide range of artists, from the music-curious to professional performers. We explore a broad swath of the singing canon, from rote folk and resistance movement music to choral, folk, pop, and original compositions. At each step, we weave our music with other art forms, and we deeply value our collaborations with poets, photographers, dancers, video producers, painters, culinary artists, and more.

Our flagship program, common pulse vocal ensemble, is a professional vocal ensemble and community of musicians dedicated to collaboration and innovation. CAfA is also a longtime collaborator with Justice Choir Chicago, a singing and learning ensemble open to all voices regardless of experience. We are often exploring new collaborations and innovating new programming, and we joyfully welcome you to join us.
